Seagull Meets Clam

2021-05-18

Back in March I stopped at a local boat launch which is near the confluence of the Croton and Hudson rivers. My main hope was to catch some Bald Eagles, and failing that maybe some interesting waterfowl. I was a bit bummed that I mostly just saw a flock of seagulls (insert hair joke here), but that quickly turned when I luckily snapped photos of one taking flight with a shell, fly over me, and drop said shell on the nearby parking lot. I had no idea they did that, but sure enough after a little research later on it's something that's fairly common. Fun to witness, especially from a few feet away with a new zoom lens.
